Shiva's home

Bookmarks, if bookmarked, ought to be looked at, from time to time, lest you forget, why the bookmarks were bookmarked

Now that I have my profound learning for the day out there, let me tell you why. It is during such inspired looking at my hundreds of bookmarks today, that I happily re-discovered the The Glamourai blog, bookmarked some months back for it's fabulous inspiration. And not only that, I also saw the lovely home of Shiva Rose, featured on the blog, and I knew that I had to share this serendipitous find with you.

I love the warm, bohemian yet simple and uncluttered vibe of this home. Beautiful collection of rugs and textiles, stand out against the pale walls and non fussy furniture. It's a home that makes you want to walk bare foot with a dog and a cat pottering along. :)

Take a look at Shiva's home at The Glamourai and more pics on Apartment Therapy.

My dear An Indian Summer readers!

With a name as evocative as Bring Home Stories, this brainchild of Sapna Bhatia and Paul Liptrot, attempts and succeeds in doing just that - brings home stories to you from the bylanes and daily life of the cities we live in and travel to. Sapna, an international journalist and Paul, an artist based in England, capture stories on culture, art and people on video, and these short films become inspiration for design evocative of the uniqueness of the city.

The very first collection at Bring Home Stories, is inspired by Delhi's flower markets (the now sadly pushed to the city outskirts - phool mandis). The exclusive product range consists of artwork, prints, cushions, apparel and accessories. You can view the range right here, and watch the story of Sapna and Paul's travels through Delhi unfold via the many well shot videos.

In that kind of mood

It's raining outside
There's lightning and thunder
I can hear the wind in the trees
And I can smell the fragrance of rain on parched earth

All I would like to do
Is listen to music
Something like this
Or maybe this
Have a glass of wine and a stack of unread books next to me
And
Lounge
Do nothing, but lounge

Yes,
This post is about lounging
In beautiful rooms, looking at beautiful views
When it rains
For that's exactly the kind of mood I am in, today evening :)

Oh, and the men can lounge too
For we are an equal opportunity blog!

LimeRoad.com!

A Shoot and a Give Away

LimeRoad.com, an exclusive online store has been a favorite of mine for it's curated collections and product stories. From handpicked home decor and furnishings to carefully selected women apparel and accessories, shopping at LimeRoad.com is almost like shopping with a stylist as your personal shopper. Inspired by the 16th century Grand Trunk Road, the famed highway that changed the face of the trade in the Indian subcontinent, the team at LimeRoad.com is always on a journey to find some of the best products out there. I also love how the team has focused on creating a highly engaging experience for shoppers on the site and it's facebook page

So, I was delighted when Diya Sahgal from LimeRoad.com reached out to me for their June campaign, called "Just Like You". Thirteen women from different fields, each unique in her own right, were styled and shot in LimeRoad.com's summer collection. With my recent obsession with six yards of gorgeousness, I chose to be styled in a beautiful raw silk saree from Desi Weaves. The shoot was a lovely experience, and kudos to Diya and her team, and the photographer Rishabh Anupam Sahay, for doing a great job! You can take a look at the campaign in LimeRoad's inhouse online magazine.

Give Away!

And now for the giveaway! LimeRoad.com would love to give away a credit voucher of INR 2,500 to one lucky lucky reader [anyone who resides in India or who has an address for shipping in India]. You can use the voucher to shop for anything that you desire from LimeRoad.com!

All you need to do to enter the give away:

1. Leave a comment that has one or all of these three words: Lime, Road, June! As always, leave a comment right here on An Indian Summer's facebook page. Leave a comment on this post too to increase your chances.

3. We will announce the winner after a week - on July 1st

That's it! :)

Thank you to the team at LimeRoad.com for hosting this generous giveaway!

A Little Prayer

For the people battling the flood in Uttarakhand, India
For the flora and fauna that has been lost
For the beautiful region that is now devastated

I feel a very strong connect to the Himalayas, and it pains me no end to see the delicate ecosystem of the region being ravaged by natural disasters, caused due to human excesses in the name of development. I wish that atleast NOW, the people responsible for governance and the people who have been nominated as the custodians for environment and development, will look beyond their private gains and do what is right for the region and it's people.

You can contribute to the relief efforts right here.

Signing off for the week
Be safe, everyone
Where ever you are

From The Portfolio Of

Schuyler Samperton

I chanced upon Schulyer Samperton's portfolio and was delighted by her bohemian, globally inspired interior design work. Samperton is an LA based designer, and her work has been featured in many top interior magazines in the US. I love how she has combined varied elements to create cohesive livable spaces. I spied a touch of India too in her work - little decor pieces, textiles, rugs and accent furniture. Some of my favorite spaces from her portfolio are in this post; take a look at the rest of her portfolio right here.
